Defending 257, captain Dasun Shanaka, Matheesha Pathirana, and Maheesh Theekshana picked three wickets each as Bangladesh were folded for 236 in 48.1 overs. Towhid Hridoy was the lone star with the bat from the Bangladesh camp but find very little support from his teammates. Hridoy scored 82 off 97 balls. Bangladesh had started the chase on a positive note with the openers adding a 50-plus stand. However, Shanaka’s double blow triggered a middle-over collapse. Then Hridoy along with Mushfiqur Rahim got the house in order by adding 72 runs for the fifth wicket. Nissanka was dismissed for 40(60). Meanwhile, this was Bangladesh’s second defeat in as many matches at the Super 4 stage.
